Problem:
Producers become unavailable as they have kids, change jobs, move, or otherwise undergo life changes.
DP is only growing, and we need all our administrators!

Solution:
Assistant Producers

What is an Assistant Producer?
An Assistant Producer is either a Producer who stepped down in good standing due to time/energy constraints but wishes to retain an administrative role in DP, or a member who was invited to become a Producer and declined because of those same time constraints.
Assistant Producers still possess all the qualities that full Producers do, minus the time.

How are they different from Producers?
Well, visually, Producers are the dark orange-peach color, and Asst. Producers are the lighter shade. In practice, Asst. Producers help out with what they can, when they can.
Asst Producers also welcome questions, but don't always have the availability to answer them right away. If you contact one, please be patient. :)

From now on, we will be periodically assessing the Producer and Assistant Producer staff, and be shifting people around as appropriate.

Producers moving to Assistant Producer:
Freezerburn
Kestryl
lord undead rat
Parlath
Wolf

And nubleas will continue as an Asst. Producer. Many thanks to him for testing out this idea for the past few months!

Questions below!

I'm not quite sure how it all works, but, how does one become an assistant producer? I'm not saying I want to become one, because I've only been here for about 5-6 months or so, (Who knows? Maybe one day!) but how it does it work? Do all the producers/assistant producers get together and discuss who seems like might be right for the job?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: There isn't really a set-in-stone method in place specifically for Assistant Producers. Essentially, APs are those that would be Producers, but otherwise do not have the time. New Producers are chosen by the current team of Producers. So if anything, the way to become an AP is to be offered Producer-hood and be unavailable. ;)

The logical next question is, "How does a person get asked to become a Producer?"

Generally, when our ranks start thinning out, we look for those members who qualify. Basically, if you want to be a Producer, consistently treat DP as though its future matters personally to you. Also a Producer must demonstrate ALL FOUR of the words in DP's motto - Consistent, Creative, Cheerful, and Caring.

Ideas of things you can do if you have ambitions of Producerdom:

Consistent - Stick around, and demonstrate your commitment both to DP and to WoW. Inform us of upcoming breaks and come back soon!
Creative - Post journals, start storylines, RP a lot.
Cheerful - Joke around, show positive attitude, keep gripes to /tells or PMs to the appropriate person (except the occasional Rant in the proper forum).
Caring - Respond to people's posts and support their events. Comfort the distressed, remember birthdays, be a friend to everyone. Try to see others' POV.

In general - Start and maintain guilds, storylines, useful threads. Suggest ideas to Producers to improve DP. Recruit for DP in-game. Donate a few bucks now and then. In general, act like this site is ALREADY your own personal project, and eventually that will become a reality.

The single most impressive thing you can do, really, is volunteer to be a Unit Director and then do a good job at that. That'll put ya on the short list for sure. :)

A warm welcome to our two newest Assistant Producers, Ayradyss and leathermartini! These two have shown fantastic support for DP and its members since their arrival, participating in and/or running many events, being super helpful in the forums, and having all-around wonderful attitudes. Congratulations, LM and Ayra!
