Nice start, Byrd, and welcome to the Brown Book Society! I loved your journal entry and your love of Stranglethorn Vale

I believe in creating fun characters and then mildly traumatizing them. His aunties are going to start sending him letters soon.

Glad you enjoyed the entry.

Luminos is hillarious! I love the entries, especially the references to quests and the things the givers say, re: Spider tastes like crab.

Well done and I look forward to more!

I too am enjoying Luminos' notebook. I like his brevity and wit. I look forward to his take on the various BBS members when he meets them!

Just read Dreamingofatree's journal -- WOW! What a wonderful start to a story! Great hook, great correlation between words and emotion!

Just... WOW! Can't wait to read more!

Do you write professionally? Is there an archive of your stories online?

Byrd- I occasionally aspire to write professionally, but unfortunately I tend to be better a starting novels than finishing them. Thanks for the encouragement! I've been trying to put myself on a stricter writing schedule so someday perhaps I will finish a manuscript.

I don't have any work online ATM; I'm holding out for the slim hope of publishing something on real paper someday.

Anyhow, I quite enjoyed your journal for Luminos. It's funny, but I never picture night elves as having family (Have you read Orson Scott Card's How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy? It has an interesting discussion of how storybook heroes are always orphans), but when I think about it, being alive for thousands of years gives them time to accumulate quite a bit of family. It's quite entertaining to read about a being potentially thousands of years old being nagged by his aunts:P

I'd imagine it won't be too hard to find a market -- remember, many sf writers started out by cranking out fanfic. The "path to publication" has changed greatly over the past 10 years.

Haven't read Card, but have gotten awfully tired of the "kids having adventure -- let's pre-decease mom so they can have fun" paradigm. I think it's more fun for him to deal with family interference (even if he IS 500 years old, they still think of him as "the baby.") His Evyl Sneaky Cousin is 80 years older, so he's NOT "the baby." He's also not a "true hunter" but took up the profession after leaving the druids (and then the priests) under circumstances not mentioned yet.

I'm also not keen on the fairly trite idea that immortality or near immortality is boring.

I hope Wep's "Very secret diaries" (a one-off) isn't against some rule. I was just being silly and having fun.

Yes, Luminos will be back. I want to diary Cataclysm from his viewpoint and from a Horde viewpoint. I"m busy leveling a priest to 80 as fast as I can so I can get back to the storytelling stuff.

He hasn't gone away. Not sure who I'll blog as Horde; think I'll probably keep it a low to mid level character because that's where a lot of the changes seem to be going on.

Myth, I loved Tamsy's first journal entry. Her comments regarding her parents, specifically her mother, were hilarious, and I love the concept of only writing on prime numbered days -- it seems so "her", somehow, based on my limited exposure to her. I can't wait to read more!

Mishel, loving the journal of Lyah Blake. A very compelling bit of writing, especially the introduction of Human hunters into the world and how the various races view the "art" of Hunting.

Cheers!

Nice work, Aritana! Love the song. That is pretty cool.

Nice work with Tamsy, Myth! Been fun getting to know her and her 'magey' ways.

I'm loving Mory's journal, Art. The differences in the face he puts on for the world and the thoughts he reveals in his journal are terrific.

Thanks, Finn!

Moryarti is a blast. I am really getting to know him and how he relates to everyone. Wait until he can make things that REALLY go boom. He likes Gavain... to a point. I can hardly wait to see where he ends up with Yeardleigh. He does NOT like being threatened. All from a casual fireblast... HA!

What grand adventures we shall have!
