I don't know what Finn has planned for the Hounds of Gilneas after the introductory quests: to continue as a paced event or a non-paced event or an unscheduled guild.

However, one of my favorite aspects of the game are the dungeons. They require thinking and coordination (assuming that you're not in a group where everyone is wearing full heirloom gear). This post is to gauge the interest in forming a secondary group within the Hounds of Gilneas (on Argent Dawn) to run a weekly, paced dungeon event.

My thoughts on this are these:

1. Create new characters so as to not disrupt the current group.
2. Create either Worgen or Human (Gilneans who escaped the curse) using only classes available to Worgen. I believe that only means no paladins.
3. Level these characters to 15 by the start date.
4. Run one (1) dungeon, in-character as a group each week.
5. Each dungeon run would be a self-contained episode, so if we run Shadowfang Keep three times for some reason, each time is a unique run through from the character's perspective.
6. Use this as an opportunity to learn to function in a dungeon as tanks and healers and the appropriate use of crowd control.
7. The reason I'm suggesting this as an addition to the Hounds of Gilneas is because it would give the guild experience and achievements and that group already contains people that I know that I like.
8. We could role-play in a city during non-dungeon time.

Challenges:

1. If we can't routinely field 5 or we're more than 5 but less than 10, we'd have to pull in random people (most of whom will not be role players).
2. I know that not everyone likes to repeat dungeons, but there are some dry stretches in the progression where we'd have to repeat a dungeon we'd done before in order to level high enough to get to the next dungeon.
3. Keeping people interested in their character that they only play once a week in dungeons.

If you're interested in the idea at all, let me know what you think.

Thanks

Blake,

I just want to say I think this is a great idea. My time will not allow me to support it at this time.

I am curious though, what server you are thinking? I have a level 11 Worgen on ER. As always, plan nothing around me as I am unreliable.

I mainly wanted to voice my enthusiasm for your original idea and see where it was going to land.

Peace,
Wolf

Wolf, as this is a spin-off from Hounds of Gilneas which is on Argent Dawn, I’m almost certain he’s planning on the Argent Dawn server.

... I’d love to attend this event. And as much as it terrifies me to even volunteer, I want to learn to tank. And I won’t do it unless I’m with friends and friends only. So I’d be willing to roll a warrior or bear druid for this.

Wolf, Myth is correct. This particular idea is for Argent Dawn.

Myth, a friendly learning environment is the goal. :)

I'm not certain that we can always guarantee 5/5 friends, depending upon interest, but it's certainly a goal.

I have a spare warlock on AG. Yolonda is a human from way back in the days of old who I can dust off, or I can roll something new if the group needs something to fill a specific gap.

I am currently in the Hounds pacer on Sundays.
I am currently in the Forsaken Pacer on Weds.
I am usually out of the house playing in the local LARP on the 1st and 3rd Sat evenings.

Depending on when this is, I might be interested in making a healer. Tank would be interesting too, but I'd let Myth take that spot, as I already know the class. I'll let you guys know if I come up with a cool concept. I'm thinking resto druid so far.

I was considering Saturday mornings. Once I see how much or little interest there is, it will be easier to schedule.

These would run variable lengths depending on the dungeon. Some are very short. Some are long.

I love dungeons as well, so this appeals to me greatly. Since I have experience as both tank and healer, I'll go with DPS/support as a Hunter. Heck, I'll even be the main assist, if we're going to be real technical.

Also, will we be using the Dungeon Finder to teleport to dungeons, a) all the time, b) only when the dungeon in question is very inconvenient, or c) never?

For whatever it's worth, I'm definitely planning on keeping the pacer going at least up through Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep (unfortunately SFK is pretty much the end of the Worgen storyline in WoW, at least currently), and then for as long after that as people are interested.

Depending on how many people (and of which classes) stick around after we finish up the starter quests, I might roll a tank or a healer (or maybe a druid to have all rolls potentially covered) to have as an alternate for dungeons.

I have a 16 Druid Just standing around on the server, He's a my gatherer for the rest of my toons. If the one level is a no go I'm sure we can arrange something, Both earthlover an i are interested. Just to be aware of we gots schools to go to though so it will depend on times.

I'd say all the time. The idea is that the dungeons are self-contained episodes, and the point is role-playing in the dungeon, not getting to the dungeon.

I'm also considering making all game related communication in-character. This is a challenge if we need to pull in random group members, but it's something I'd like to try. We can have time-outs early on as we learn what works and what doesn't to convey the idea we're trying to communicate.

I’ve decided that I’d rather learn to tank as a druid than as a warrior, though we will see if I change my mind. I chose the name Dellamara.

I can’t really do Saturdays unless it’s stupidly early, and I don’t think anyone wants to do that. On Saturdays I have D&D starting at 3:00 PM Eastern and lasting until 11 or later.

Sundays I’m in Hounds, and if possible I’d like to avoid Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday because of things I’ll have on those days in the future... Can we manage Monday or Friday? :(

Zoltec: Starting as 16 wouldn't be a problem, but restricting the character to dungeon-only leveling would probably interfere with your use of that character as a gatherer. Up to you.

Myth: I guess it depends on how you define "stupidly early." :)

Anyhow, we seem to have enough interest to at least explore this some more.

If you're interested, please post the following information in the following format:

1. The Role (E.g. Tank, DPS, or Healer) you'd prefer to play for this
2. The Class (E.g. Warrior, Mage, Priest, etc) you'd prefer to play for this
3. Second Preferred Role
4. The perfect day/time for you to play a dungeon
5. Your actual availability (don't modify it based on what others say, just tell me when you're available)
6. Class/Roles that you would be willing to mentor (E.g. Mentor for Warrior Tank or Druid Healer)

Completely Fictional Example
1. DPS
2. Warlock
3. Healer
4. Thursdays from 3 PM to 5 PM (FYI: Any week day will have to be after "standard business hours")
5. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the afternoon
6. I can mentor Druid/Bear Tanks (You know this is a fictional example because I can't Bear Tank for beans)
