Recent Events
After some careful planning and some heartfelt words, Anduin's Irregulars rode out on their final mission. Delving into the very heart of Duskwood, Master Sergeant Crogur Stark stood before the massive Emerald Portal and called out to the Dream Wraith, challenging it to a final battle.
The Wraith answered. Accepting Crogur's challenge, it possessed him completely, bonding to him body and soul. But even the Wraith didn't know just what would happen next. The fragment of the ancient portal that shattered millennia ago was in Crogur's hand, and its power was too much for the Wraith to bear being in contact with. Disrupted, he dropped the fragment, which was quickly recovered by Corporal Marrita Covas. Seeing that the Dream Wraith feared the fragment, Marrita passed it off to Private Deenna Stanley, hoping to confuse the Wraith. Meanwhile, Sergeant Tyraan Cortez soon learned that even Crogur's body had taken on the ethereal qualities of the Wraith itself, and could not be touched.
The Wraith, knowing that he couldn't risk the Irregulars sending the fragment through the Emerald Portal at the same time he passed through himself, pressed the attack upon Deenna! Soon discovering that she could harm him with the fragment in her possession, a heated duel took place, and Deenna was forced to unleash her demonic powers on her beloved "Uncle Crogur."
As quickly as it began, it was over, and Crogur fell. Still alive, but severely injured, the team laid the fragment upon his form and hurled him through the portal, in spite of his best efforts to tempt Private Grilippi with power, or appeal to the love of Marrita and Deenna, and Tyraan's sense of duty. As Crogur's body passed through the portal, the Wraith gave one last howl of agony as its essence was pulled like a magnet into the fragment.
On the other side of the portal lay Crogur, eyes wide and unmoving. He lived, but his mind was damaged by the ordeal, now comatose in a dreamlike state, with no certainty that he would ever recover.
In spite of this sad news, Sergeant Major Arich Jader informed the Irregulars that High Command was prepared to reward them for their deed, even offering an Honorable Discharge to whoever wished it. Though offered command of the Irregulars, Jader passed that mantle to Tyraan, and promoted him to the rank of Master Sergeant.
So ends an era, and begins another for the Special Operations Unit of the 81st Battallion: Anduin's Irregulars.

ORIGINAL POST wrote: Alright, so I'm enamoured of the Pacer concept, but real-life circumstances have prevented me from participating in any but a single session. So, I figured I'd take a stab at starting one. The concept is a small unit of Stormwind's Army. But not just any ordinary unit. These guys are Anduin's Irregulars--the nickname for a "special" unit no one wants to be assigned to. The Irregulars are just that...irregular. As an Irregular, you may have screwed-up in a regular unit, or ticked off the wrong high official. Maybe you're the wayward son of someone important, so it wouldn't do to kick you out of the army, but you're too much trouble in a regular unit. Maybe you're just not standard army material--such as a warlock, or a non-human race--so they're trying you out in this unit. Whatever the reason, you've been assigned to the most undesirable unit in the army...or what's left of it after the last bunch of pariahs died, went AWOL, MIA, or otherwise left service. Naturally, in these trying times, every last soldier is needed...even the Irregulars. But what do to with these misfits? Well, with every surrounding territory feeling disused by Stormwind for pulling its forces away to deal with more distant wars, High Command has chosen to send in a "special task force" to assist those territories...in the form of Anduin's Irregulars. Will the Irregulars be up to the task? Can they overcome the difficulties that landed them in the unit to begin with? Will they shame Stormwind's name, or exalt it? They say great heroes are born from great adversity. Can you rise above, and be a hero? Ideally, it would take place sometime on Wednesday, as that's my best day for availability. Other days would be Friday or Saturday after 8:00 pm, PST (by which time it seems most good little DPers are off to bed). Server would be Argent Dawn, low level range to begin with (I'm thinking new, or relatively new, characters). It should be human-based, but other races could conceivably work (Night Elves would need some real justification, I'd think). So that's my idea. Any interest? Availability? Discuss.

Im in.
I have a Dwarf warrior that runs with the Apostles of Aerthyr group ( http://www.aerthyr.com) and my NE rogue. Ive been playing about with some human characters, most notably paladin and priest, and a little with a mage.
Im sure I can do a "priest/paladin seeking redemption" deal.

This is a very neat idea. I'm taking a "break" from WoW at the moment, but if I decide to fire it back up I would be honored to be irregular.

I would like to do this. I can easily create a bumbling little wizardess. PM on the way.

Depends on what people want to do. If you want to start with level 1, that's cool. Personally, I tend to spend about five or six levels rounding out my character concept, but that's just me. I'm totally flexible.
I'm glad to see some interest in this. What sort of availability do folks have? As I stated above, my best day is Wednesday. Other than that, looks like Fridays will now be taken up with Metrione's Night Elf pacer, so that would leave late Saturday evening (after 8pm PST/11pm EST).

Wednesday and Saturday are generally pretty good for me, too, though Wednesday is probably a little better. I can never tell what's going to be happening on a weekend night.
Oh, and getting our characters to 5 or 6 is a good idea. It gives us a chance to start working on their mistak...er....personalities.

I would be interested in this. I have always wanted to try out a Paladin class. Have her name, Marrita, just have to figure out what she did, to get thrown out of the army. Whatever it was, it was shockingly bad.
I like playing them up to 5-6, see what comes out of their memories, develop a personality, get a feel for them. Wed. are good too with my work schedule.

Glad to have you aboard, Lady Drambuie. But remember, she wouldn't be thrown out of the army, just transferred. The Irregulars are still an army unit...just an undesirable one. Its the place the army puts people that they can't just get rid of, but would rather forget about.
Alright, I've got a character to head up this little ragtag group (so long as no one has an objection to me playing the unit commander). I'm imagining this incarnation of Anduin's Irregulars is "the new batch," so we could even RP through the recruitment/transfer process if you folks want to. Just PM me a bit about your characters, and make sure to include their military background, and what they did/are/were to deserve transfer to the Irregulars.
EDIT: I should also note that this character is level 8 right now. So I guess I'd recommend characters from the 6-8 range. But it sounds like at least a few people want to start relatively low, so don't feel like you need to level up to 8 quickly, or anything. I won't be levelling Crogur further until we get under way.

I have Karcsi the magess created, but I have to run off to the stables now. I'll be thinking on why she's been transfered, though I suspect it's because of her lack of ability to fully control her spells.
"What? He looks good in wool."
Oh, and you should definitely lead the group, in my opinion.

I would love you have you on board, Zoltec. As for playing that late, it really depends on if others can do so. I can do it just fine, but it might be a bit late for others to start.

I don't know if this will help, but according to your post on my end, this is when you wrote it:

Maybe you can compare this to your end and see the date and time difference.
